Paris Paralympics

Paris Paralympics

Para dressage athlete Natasha Tse Pui-ting represented Hong Kong, China at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Competing in the individual para dressage event, the Games marked her fourth consecutive Paralympic appearance. Her participation was confirmed by the China Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and the Equestrian Federation of Hong Kong, China (EFHKC).

Tse achieved the Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) scores required to qualify for the Paris Paralympics in individual para dressage. She had previously qualified for London 2012 at the age of 15, becoming the youngest para equestrian athlete at those Games. She subsequently represented Hong Kong, China at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Tse first started riding at the age of four for therapeutic reasons and developed a passion for the sport that led her to compete as a para rider. Splitting her time between Hong Kong and the United Kingdom, she trained at The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Tuen Mun Public Riding School, Beas River Equestrian Centre and Wellington Riding in England.

On the honour of representing Hong Kong, China at her fourth Paralympic Games, she said: “Participating in the Paralympics was always my dream as an equestrian athlete. I was so happy to have another opportunity to compete alongside the top riders in the world. I was especially grateful for the nurture and support I received from The Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Equestrian Federation and the Riding for the Disabled Association.”

Under the Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan (HKEPP), a specialist team of coaches, grooms, veterinarians, farriers, physiotherapists and other professional staff helped riders and horses prepare for the Paralympic Games and provided support throughout the competition in Paris. Among the support team was Annie Ho, a double bronze medallist in team dressage at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou and team eventing at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. The Jockey Club-supported rider assisted with the care and training of Tse’s horse during the Games.

Tse and Jockey Club Juno’s Whispering Angel competed in the Grade I Individual Event at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games on 3 September 2024, finishing 15th overall.
